The entire process of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a risk at the current time, so you could think that there might be little affinity for patronizing Zimbabwe’s gambling halls. In fact, it seems to be operating the other way, with the critical market circumstances leading to a bigger eagerness to play, to attempt to find a quick win, a way from the difficulty.

For nearly all of the citizens subsisting on the tiny local earnings, there are two popular forms of gaming, the state lottery and Zimbet. Just as with most everywhere else on the planet, there is a national lottery where the probabilities of winning are unbelievably low, but then the winnings are also remarkably large. It’s been said by market analysts who study the idea that the majority don’t buy a ticket with the rational belief of winning. Zimbet is centered on either the national or the UK soccer leagues and involves predicting the outcomes of future games.

Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, on the other shoe, cater to the considerably rich of the nation and tourists. Up till recently, there was a very substantial sightseeing business, centered on nature trips and visits to Victoria Falls. The economic woes and associated violence have carved into this market.

Among Zimbabwe’s gambling halls, there are 2 in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and slot machines, and the Plumtree Casino, which has only slot machines. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only one armed bandits. Mutare has the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which contain gaming tables, one armed bandits and video machines, and Victoria Falls houses the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which have gaming machines and table games.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling dens and the previously talked about lottery and Zimbet (which is considerably like a parimutuel betting system), there are a total of 2 horse racing complexes in the country: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the 2nd municipality) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Given that the economy has shrunk by beyond 40% in recent years and with the connected poverty and violence that has come about, it isn’t understood how well the tourist business which supports Zimbabwe’s gambling dens will do in the in the years to come. How many of the casinos will survive till conditions improve is merely not known.
