The act of living in Zimbabwe is somewhat of a gamble at the moment, so you might think that there would be very little appetite for going to Zimbabwe’s gambling halls. Actually, it seems to be working the opposite way around, with the awful market circumstances leading to a bigger eagerness to bet, to try and locate a fast win, a way out of the difficulty.

For the majority of the people subsisting on the meager local money, there are two dominant types of betting, the national lottery and Zimbet. As with almost everywhere else on the planet, there is a state lottery where the chances of succeeding are remarkably low, but then the winnings are also extremely high. It’s been said by economists who study the idea that most don’t purchase a card with a real assumption of winning. Zimbet is based on one of the domestic or the English soccer leagues and involves predicting the results of future matches.

Zimbabwe’s casinos, on the other foot, look after the exceedingly rich of the nation and vacationers. Until not long ago, there was a very big vacationing business, built on nature trips and trips to Victoria Falls. The economic anxiety and connected crime have cut into this market.

Amongst Zimbabwe’s casinos, there are two in the capital, Harare, the Carribea Bay Resort and Casino, which has 5 gaming tables and one armed bandits, and the Plumtree Casino, which has only slot machine games. The Zambesi Valley Hotel and Entertainment Center in Kariba also has only one armed bandits. Mutare contains the Monclair Hotel and Casino and the Leopard Rock Hotel and Casino, the pair of which offer gaming tables, slots and video machines, and Victoria Falls has the Elephant Hills Hotel and Casino and the Makasa Sun Hotel and Casino, each of which have slot machines and blackjack, roulette, and craps tables.

In addition to Zimbabwe’s gambling halls and the aforementioned talked about lottery and Zimbet (which is very like a pools system), there are also two horse racing complexes in the state: the Matabeleland Turf Club in Bulawayo (the second metropolis) and the Borrowdale Park in Harare.

Given that the market has shrunk by more than 40 percent in the past few years and with the associated deprivation and violence that has cropped up, it isn’t known how well the sightseeing industry which is the foundation for Zimbabwe’s gambling halls will do in the near future. How many of the casinos will carry on until conditions get better is merely not known.
