There is an appealing story to the Cambodia casinos that reside just across the dividing line from neighboring Thailand, where casino gambling is banned. Eight casinos are situated in a generally small area in the municipality of Poipet in Cambodia. This conclave of Cambodia gambling dens is in a perfect area, a three to four hour trip from Bangkok and Macao, the 2 most popular betting locations in Asia. Cambodia gambling halls do a thriving business with Thai laborers and guests from Malaysia, Japan, South Korea, and Singapore, with only very couple of Westerners. The amazing income gained from the gambling dens ranges from $7.5 million to over 12.5 million, and there are a couple of limitations constraints for gambling den ownership. Ownership is assumed to be largely Thai; however, funding sources are cryptic. The borders are ceremoniously open from 0900 to 17:00, and despite the fact visas are apparently required to pass, there are methods and means around this, as is accurate of most border crossings.
The first Cambodia gambling dens opened in Phnom Penh in 1994, but were forced to close in 1998, leaving just one gambling hall in the capital, the Naga Resort. The Naga, a moored boat gambling hall, highlights one hundred and fifty slots and 60 table games. The Naga gambling den never closes with 42 tables of mini-punto banco, 4 tables of vingt-et-un, 10 of roulette, 2 of Caribbean Stud Poker, and 1 each of Pai-Gow and Tai-Sai.
The 1st casino in Poipet, the Holiday Palace, premiered in 1999 and the Golden Crown quickly followed. There are 150 slots and 5 table games at the Golden Crown and one hundred and four slot machines and 68 table games at the Holiday Palace. The newer Holiday Palace Casino and Resort contains 300 slots and seventy table games and the Princess Hotel and Casino, also in Poipet, has 166 slots and ninety six table games, including eighty seven punto banco (the most dominant game), Fan Tan, and Pai Gow. In addition, there is the Casino Tropicana, with 135 one armed bandits and sixty six of the familiar table games, as well as 1 table of Casino Stud Poker. Another one of the 8 gambling dens in Poipet, also in a motel, is the Princess Casino with one hundred and sixty six slots and ninety seven games. The Star Vegas Casino is is located in a comprehensive resort and hotel complex that features numerous amenities accompanying the gambling hall, which contains ten thousand sq.ft. of 130 one armed bandits and 88 gaming tables.
